Investing In Young Minds
Together, We Are Building Readers, Leaders & Brighter Futures
About Us
DWW stands for Damiano Wamayi Wadika, whose life and values continue to inspire the mission of DWW Children’s Library and Resource Centre. His story is one of resilience, faith, and the transforming power of education.
Orphaned at a young age, Damiano remained committed to learning and pursued his studies with determination, supported by Catholic Church missionaries. Through hard work and discipline, he rose to become one of the early students of Jinja College before continuing his training at Ngora Teacher Training College.
He began his career in education as a teacher and later became Headteacher of Budadiri Boys Primary School, where he served faithfully for many years. His dedication and leadership eventually led to higher responsibilities in public service, where he worked as an Education Officer in several districts of Uganda, helping to improve schools and expand opportunities for learners.
Throughout his life, he believed that education was the key to personal growth, community progress, and national development. His passion for teaching influenced many members of his family, several of whom followed careers in education and service.
Today, DWW Children’s Library and Resource Centre carries forward his legacy by promoting literacy, leadership, values, and opportunity for children, youth, and families. Through this work, we honour a humble man whose life demonstrated that education can change generations.
Empowering Children Through Literacy & Opportunity
DWW Children’s Library and Resource Centre provides a welcoming environment where children, youth, and families can read, learn, and grow. We believe every child deserves access to knowledge, encouragement, and opportunity.
Through books, literacy programmes, leadership activities, creative learning, and community engagement, we help young people build confidence, skills, and values for a brighter future. Our centre promotes academic growth while nurturing responsibility, teamwork, and self-esteem.
Together with parents, teachers, and partners, we are building a community of excellence through education and empowerment.
